Panerai Radiomir

One Minute Watch with John Carter

Pre-Owned Panerai Radiomir Special Edition (PAM720)

This Panerai Radiomir (PAM720) is a special edition timepiece that pays homage to the Ref. 3646, the now-famous model that Panerai developed for the Italian Navy during World War II. It was the very first purpose-built military dive watch and was used by Italian frogmen during secret navy diver missions.

Produced in a limited series of 500, the PAM720 is a near-exact reproduction of the 3646 design and retains many details which revert back to the original model from the late 1930’s. To remain faithful to the original model, the case is made of stainless steel with a diameter of 47mm. The simplistic design paired with its historical horological provenance makes this special edition Radiomir a perfect watch for Panerai collectors or anyone interested in military watches.

Purchased in July of 2018, this watch is in excellent pre-owned condition and includes its original boxes, manuals, book, extra crystal and certificate numbered 0059/0500.

VIDEO: Hands-On with the Panerai Radiomir Special Edition (PAM720)

Produced as a limited edition of only 500 watches, this Panerai Radiomir is a special reproduction of the famous Reference 3646, the first purpose-built military dive watch ever created. Panerai developed the model for the Royal Italian Navy during World War II as a military tool for their frogmen during secret dive missions. To improve dial legibility in murky underwater conditions, the dial had a sandwich-dial structure with a simple layout that only featured four large Arabic numerals and eight indices for hour markers.

This special edition Radiomir retains all the aesthetic characteristics of the original: a large 47mm cushion-shaped case with wire lugs, the highly legible sandwich dial with oversized numerals, blued hands and an onion-style screw down crown. While the original 3646 was powered by a Rolex movement, this model is fitted with the P.3000, a classic manual-wound movement developed in-house by Panerai that can observed through the sapphire crystal case back.
