Panerai Radiomir S.L.C. Special Edition (PAM449)
Panerai’s first dive watch—the Radiomir—was created specifically for the Italian Navy in the 1930’s.This special edition Radiomir pays tribute to the very first Panerai prototype created in 1936, the Reference 2533.
Produced in a limited series of 750 units, this Panerai Radiomir features the “SLC” dial, based on a very rare early version of the watches produced for the Italian Navy in 1936. The dial design itself has some mysterious origins, possibly made only as a prototype. Dating to 2013, this Radiomir is in excellent pre-owned condition and is accompanied by a special edition oversized burlwood box and parchment certificate indicating this watch is #680 of 750.
Created specifically for the Italian Navy in the 1930’s, the Radiomir was Panerai’s first dive watch. This Radiomir, the PAM449, features a simplified “SLC” dial design that pays tribute to the very first Panerai prototype created in 1936, the Reference 2533.
The simplified sandwich dial is uncluttered and the markers have a brown-tinted luminous material which gives the appearance of a vintage patina. A pair of metallic blued hour and minute hands indicate the time while subtly shining blue as light is reflected.
This historically inspired Radiomir features a large 47mm cushion-style stainless steel case with wire lugs. It is powered by Panerai’s P.3000, a 3 day manual wind movement, which can be observed through the sapphire caseback.
This model was produced for only one year as a special edition of 750 watches. It is accompanied by a special edition oversized burlwood box and parchment certificate indicating this watch is #680 of 750.
