1971 Rolex Explorer II (1655)
Introduced in 1971, the Rolex Explorer II was intended for use by scientists and explorers that work in environments without a visible day-night cycle – like underground or above the arctic circle. The unusual design and limited appeal led to relatively lower sales, which has now contributed to the rarity and collectivity of the model. This example, dating to the first year of release, features its original dial and hands that have aged to a lovely patina and are in excellent condition. The movement has been fully serviced, and the original case has been restored by LA Watchworks. The bracelet is a modern Rolex service replacement, but the original (and very rough) folded-link Oyster bracelet will be included.
