Omega’s NEW Speedmaster Chronoscope
Join John as he explores a unique version of the classic Speedmaster—Omega’s new Speedmaster Chronoscope. The name Chronoscope comes from ancient Greek and translates to “seeing time”. Aptly named, the Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope combines the legendary design of the Speedmaster with a vintage-inspired dial that incorporates the three classic scales of a chronograph— a tachymeter to measure speeds, a telemeter to measure distance and a pulsometer to measure pulses per minute..
The Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope combines the legendary design of the Speedmaster with a vintage-inspired dial that incorporates the three classic scales of a chronograph— a tachymeter to measure speeds, a telemeter to measure distance and a pulsometer to measure pulses per minute.
The customary tachymeter scale on the bezel measures speeds from 450 units per hour down to 60, and for units less than 60 per hour, there is an inner tachymeter on the dial. The telemeter and pulsometer scales are also printed on the dial using a “snail” style design reminiscent of vintage chronographs.
Housed within the 43mm steel case, the blue dial is completed with leaf-shaped hands and Arabic numerals. The dial remains legible and beautifully organized with 60-minute and 12-hour recorders at three o’clock and a small-seconds counter at nine o’clock. This watch is powered by Omega’s new Calibre 9908 which can be viewed through the sapphire caseback.
